Eleven people turn up to play including two guest of Alban's, Pat Smith and John Barber (Steve's Granddad). As we've come to expect when Steve B doesn't turn up the weather on the day was abismal with rain falling for most of the day. The course oddly enough was in cracking condition with the greens and fairways lush and well kept.
It was my great pleasure today to play with my two guests and Nigel Shadbolt, the latter played his best round ever - and probably the best gross score ever in Nortels Society of two over gross securing him a winning Stapleford score of 41 Points.
Almost as amazing was to see Pat, who joined NORTELs for the first time, also achieve 41 points but from a handicap of 23 which meant his gross score was not quite as good, but non-the-less very very impresive. Very well done to both.
The catering was excellent and we were really well looked after by the staff too. All in all a great day - pity about the rain.
