Nortel's Mrs Nichols Trophy 2011 - Brickendon Grange

The 2011 Mrs Nichols Trophy took place at Brickendon Grange Golf Club.  Nortels G.S. had not attened this venue for a long time. But it was nice to establish - quite late in the day - that one of our past members, Alan Fenwick, is a founder member of the Club and who, in his late 80's, still plays the odd few holes now and again. We asked the Club steward to pass on our best wishes Alan and we hope we might make arrangements to see him in future should we return to Brickenden - perhaps in 2012.

Eighteen people turned up to play on the day (including three welcome guests Tim Smart, Alan Jones and Tony Peak). The course was a delight to play in excellent condition, not-with-standing the limited rain fail we have had prior to the event over recent months. The catering, clubhouse and courtesy of the staff were exemplary and those who attended on the day felt this was a course we should return to in the future too. Steve B had told the chairman before attending that he had booked the venue and the weather too but he didn't say what sort of weather he'd booked. Needless to say that it should have been apparent that it was likely to rain as Steve didn't attend this one and of course we had a number of showers and strong winds to contend. But that did not dampen our enthusiasm for the venue.

3rd Malcolm White 30 Points (on count back from Captain Tony).
