NORTELs 21-4-11 Beaver Trophy - North Middlesex GC

This year's Beaver Trophy took place at the  North Middlesex Golf club, just south of Barnet. Steve had booked good weather for us and we arrived nice an early to sample the delights of breakfast at one of the oldest courses in England. The clubhouse is an old but charming Manor-house with photographs of the legendary Henry Vardon teeing off the 7th in fount of crowds hanging on the wall.

from the tee.

Fifteen people including one guest - Mr C Carlow - turned up to play and were treated to a super day's golf. The course is nicely designed (by Willie Park Junior in 1905) in 74 acres of  parkland with some amazingly beautiful holes, and all in very good condition with the greens being quick, difficult and true - And Steve Bth'a and others will testify to this on the 5th green where he 3 putted from 5 foot above the hole.
The weather was wonderful for a game of golf too with the wind making the games more of a challenge whilst keeping us cool at the same time. The strangest happening of the day was Nigel's tee shot on the 18th that hit a "stray" greenkeeper on the back of his head !  A big thank you goes to Frank who suggested this superbe venue - everyone who attened felt we must return to North Middlsex again!

  1. On behalf of Howard Till....

We are glad you enjoyed your visit to North Middlesex.

Congratulations to Mr Smart on his very respectable 38 points, a good score to make around a difficult course!

I am happy to report that our green keeper has suffered no lasting damage from Nigel’s tee shot!

I hope everyone enjoyed the “Grand Stand Finish” that is the 18th hole, not too bad if you are first in but more pressure on the later starters to hit a good shot for the “Gallery”

We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
