Dunstable Downs is a favorite venue for the NORTEL's society with its magnificent views of 5 counties. The course was in tip-top condition and the club-house 19th hole and catering was spot on too. So it is no surprise that everyone had a great time, and gave a firm thumbs up to have this venue on the list for next year too.
The only down side with this DDGC is the inadequate ventilation in the mens vistor’s changing room, which seems to be invariably the temperature and humidity of a Turkish bath.
The numbers attending were down for this event - only 16 people playing. This included our one and only guest Mr Steve Borley who told me he manages to play about once a year with the society, and always enjoys his time with us.
And so on-to the results which with the exception of third place have been taken by comitteee members,

Nearest the Pin
The most notable event (that I can relay) was Graham N’s fluky shot on the 9th that secured him the Nearest the Pin prize. Aparently it was a mis-hit that hit the edge of the 10th tee and rolled down on to the green a few feet from the pin… Thanks for the tip G, I’ll give a try the next time. My efforts to land my ball close to the pin, put me in the bunker at the foot of the green. I subsequenly played a Hitler (ie took two shots in the bunker) to get me out.
